Ausbiz, Australia’s dedicated business channel recently invited KCM Trade’s Chief Market Analyst Tim Waterer on to their year-end ‘The Last Call’ program to look back at 2023. Tim joined Ausbiz hosts David Koch and Nadine Blayney, as well as other industry experts to discuss the ‘big picture’ themes for financial markets during 2023.
The casual discussion took place with a relaxed, festive season theme in the Ausbiz studios in Sydney, Australia, where the hosts and industry experts including Tim shared their thoughts on what macroeconomic factors were driving markets during the year.
During the on-air chat, Tim noted that while the Australian share market had performed well, it had lagged US market gains during 2023, before our Chief Market Analyst then offered his views on why this was the case.
Interest rates were a hot topic for financial markets during the year which the panel of experts discussed at length. Tim commented that falling oil prices during Q4 should take some pressure out of the next batch of inflation figures, though the energy sector could remain volatile in 2024.
KCM Trade’s Chief Market Analyst also noted that China’s economy had not recovered as quickly as expected, and that the China story will be again one to watch heading into the new year for global financial markets.
Ausbiz is Australia’s dedicate business channel, with a reputation for providing their audience with key insights and analysis from many of the leading experts in the industry.
